We are excited to be recruiting a new role for a growing manufacturing business as they establish their newest office site locally. This is a permanent role based in Dursley, with growth plans for the near future where the successful candidate can expect to grow with the business.
In this position, you will play a key role in supporting financial activities, including forecasting, financial planning, budgeting, variance analysis, performance reporting, and process improvement. You will also assist with costing and pricing for new and prototype products.
You will have support from a remote Accountant/Financial Controller and an on-site Bookkeeper. The role offers a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH. Fully remote work may be available during office renovations.
Responsibilities
1. Build short- and long-term financial models.
2. Develop cash flow forecasts to meet upcoming financial obligations.
3. Prepare revenue, expense, and profit forecasts aligned with growth plans and investor expectations.
4. Create financial proposals and decks for investor updates and fundraising rounds.
5. Translate complex financial data into investor-friendly KPIs and metrics.
6. Lead pricing analysis for prototypes, including cost-based, competitor-based, and value-based pricing.
7. Collaborate with product and manufacturing teams to define cost per unit, gross margin, and break-even volume.
8. Run what-if pricing models to determine optimal strategies for early products.
9. Track and report key metrics such as revenue, gross margin, and customer acquisition costs.
10. Perform variance analysis comparing actuals versus forecasts and explain discrepancies.
11. Provide data-driven insights for strategic decision-making.
12. Partner with directors and teams to align financial goals with product development and go-to-market plans.
13. Evaluate the financial impact of decisions like marketing spend, hiring, and production volumes.
14. Assist in defining Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) aligning financial targets with company goals.
15. Build scenario models to assess how changes in pricing, demand, or costs affect cash flow and profitability.
16. Help leadership understand risks via sensitivity analyses.
17. Support the development of financial systems and processes, including budgeting and internal reporting.
18. Assist in selecting or integrating early ERP/financial software if needed.
19. Help set up cost tracking for R&D, manufacturing, and logistics.
20. Build models to evaluate costs of scaling production, such as initial tooling versus mass production.
21. Forecast inventory needs, production timelines, and working capital requirements.
22. Estimate COGS, shipping, and fulfillment costs to ensure financial sustainability.
