We are currently looking for an Educational Psychologist to join our team. We welcome applications from qualified Educational Psychologists who are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council, as well as those from Trainee Educational Psychologists who are due to qualify in September 2026.
You are invited to join a friendly, lively and innovative team of School Aged and Early Years Educational Psychologists who are committed to assisting the LA in the achievement of early intervention, increased inclusion and raising educational standards. The Educational Psychology Team works closely with colleagues across the inclusion service. The most recent Estyn inspection noted that "The authority has a well-established, passionate inclusion team who are highly knowledgeable and committed to improving provision and outcomes for pupils with ALN." There are therefore high expectations regarding our service delivery by the senior management team in Education, Leisure and Lifelong Services.
As an Educational Psychologist you will apply psychological knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour to promote the positive development of children, young people, families and organizations. The Educational Psychology Service promotes partnership with others and also assists the LA in carrying out its statutory responsibilities to these people. The Service also contributes to achieving the strategic priorities. The Service provides valuable contributions to the early intervention, (preventative), multi-agency, parental support, school improvement and learning community roles.
Your daily routine you will contribute to the LA in a strategic role by supporting the Principal Educational Psychologist in ensuring that the Service contributes to the Corporate Aims and values of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Duties include:
To help the LA fulfil its statutory duties in relation to the Additional Learning Needs Code for Wales (2021) and ALNET Act (2018).
To provide direct support to a number of schools/children/young people/families through a generic caseload, promoting early identification and intervention.
To promote inclusion, school improvement and develop school capacity.
To work collaboratively with other agencies and partners, both statutory and non-statutory, to ensure the best outcomes for all.
To support children and young people's learning and development by working, where appropriate, with groups of children addressing more generic and systemic issues.

Do you have:
1. Qualified as an Educational Psychologist and be eligible for chartered status with the British Psychological Society.
2. Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council as an Educational Psychologist.

5. working with families in supporting their child's development and needs.
6. contributing to service evaluation.
