Digital Forensic Specialist

About the Role
We’re representing a leading global risk and investigations consultancy, supporting corporate clients, law firms, and private individuals with complex forensic investigations.
The Digital Forensics team provides expert evidence and advisory services in high-stakes matters — from intellectual property theft and insider fraud to bribery, corruption, and misconduct investigations.
This is a highly specialised, court-facing role requiring deep technical capability, evidential integrity, and the ability to communicate complex findings with absolute clarity and precision.
Key Responsibilities
Evidence Handling & Analysis
* Conduct forensic imaging, acquisition, and preservation of digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, servers, and cloud environments.
* Analyse user activity, deleted data, communications, registry artefacts, browser history, and system metadata.
* Identify and mitigate anti-forensic or data destruction techniques.
* Maintain strict chain-of-custody and ensure evidence is admissible in civil and criminal proceedings.
Investigations & Reporting
* Lead or support digital forensic investigations into fraud, IP theft, employee misconduct, and regulatory breaches.
* Produce detailed forensic reports that withstand legal and technical scrutiny.
* Collaborate with legal counsel, HR, and senior stakeholders to interpret and present findings clearly and defensibly.
* Contribute forensic expertise to multi-disciplinary investigation teams, including cyber, intelligence, and crisis response functions.
Client Advisory & Expert Testimony
* Advise clients on evidence strategy, preservation protocols, and investigation readiness.
* Act as an expert witness where required, providing testimony and technical interpretation for court or arbitration proceedings.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience conducting digital forensic investigations within corporate, legal, or law enforcement settings.
* Strong technical proficiency with forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, Magnet AXIOM, Oxygen Forensic Detective, or X-Ways.
* Deep understanding of file systems, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), mobile OS (iOS, Android), and cloud platforms.
* Experience producing formal forensic reports and maintaining evidential integrity under legal standards.
* Knowledge of the legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements governing digital evidence and disclosure.
Desirable:
* Exposure to expert witness work or litigation support.
* Experience in mobile/wearable device forensics, encryption, or anti-forensics.
* Certifications such as EnCE, GCFE, GCFA, CFCE, or CHFI.
* Degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, or a related field.
* Familiarity with incident response or network forensics.
