An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experiencedPractice Educator to join our expanding St Nicholas Hospice Care (St Nics)Education Team. This role will work across West Suffolk and Thetford,supporting a holistic and consistent approach to the delivery of high qualitypalliative and end of life care across the wider health and care system.


Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for leading the development of clinical practice education within the Hospice, working alongside our clinical staff to ensure the provision of high quality, safe and compassionate care.

As a registrantyou will have experience of working within palliative or end of life care, withextensive experience of teaching, mentoring and developing clinical staff. Weare seeking someone who can develop creative approaches to the delivery ofpalliative care learning and development, as well as having a passion andcommitment to the values of the hospice. You must be highly organised and haveexcellent communication and relationship building skills.

We arelooking for an appropriately qualified registrant, with proven experience ofworking in palliative care and planning, delivering and evaluating educationand training.The successful candidate should demonstrate a goodunderstanding of research, with an up-to-date knowledge of palliative care.

Job responsibilities

Provide education and training for those whowork in the hospice and those external to the hospice across the West SuffolkAlliance space and Thetford.

Use the latest clinical evidence to developthe practice of colleagues within the hospice and across our communities.

Act as a credible and visible learning resourcefor the clinical team across all hospice settings, to support the developmentof staff

Utilise data to support plans for learning anddevelopment

Demonstrate an awareness of the learning needsand styles of all colleagues and the ability to plan to support these

Develop and provide end of life training,education and support for the generalist workforce, community groups andpublic within the community setting inclusive of care homes and domiciliarycare agencies.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Adult Registered Nurse (Active NMC registrant)
* Relevant Diploma or Degree in Nursing
* Professional qualification in teaching e.g. AET, CET, DET, PGCE (or willing to work towards)
* Additional qualification in palliative care, or willingness to work towards this.
* Teaching and Assessing qualification, or willingness to work towards this


Skills & Abilities

* Advanced communication skills
* Commitment to clinical excellence through regular professional updating and promoting best practice.
* Wide and varied clinical skill set in relation to the specialism
* High standard of IT literacy (e.g. word processing, e-mail, PowerPoint)
* Ability to challenge poor practice, with a will to support change
* Ability to demonstrate compassion, self-knowledge, confidence, generosity and courage across own practice and style of leadership.
* Able to prioritise and time manage work
* Able to demonstrate ability to lead and develop practice across teams
* Ability to support others to reach their own clinical decisions
* Ability to motivate colleagues
* IT literate
* Ability to work both autonomously and within teams


Experience

* Significant nursing experience in palliative end of life care
* Experience of providing formal and informal teaching.
* Experience of analysing data and completing reports i.e. audits etc.
