Waste Management Supervisor required for our public sector client
Location: Coalville - but will be travelling to other sites
Responsible To: Senior Haulage Officer/Haulage & Waste Management Officer
Responsible For: Specialist HGV Drivers, Waste Management Operatives
Job Purpose:
Supervise the Waste Transfer Station (WTS) and Waste Haulage Operations, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise Waste Transfer Station and Haulage operations in line with legislation, policies, and budgets.
* Manage and support drivers and operatives, including recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
* Monitor vehicle and driver compliance with regulations, including tachograph and daily checks.
* Operate weighbridge systems and manage fuel usage.
* Liaise with contractors, fleet teams, and stakeholders to ensure efficient operations.
* Conduct inspections and implement new working methods.
* Provide cover for sites and operational managers when required.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* HGV Licence (or willingness to work towards).
* Driver CPC (or willingness to work towards).
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Experience supervising employees in waste management or similar industries.
* Knowledge of waste disposal legislation and driver/vehicle regulations.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Computer literacy (MS Office and industry-standard software).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
* Loading shovel/plant ticket or train-the-trainer qualification (or willingness to work towards).
* BTEC, NVQ3, or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
* WAMITAB CoTC Level 3 (or willingness to work towards).
* Experience managing on-site assets and working with Health & Safety systems.
Other Requirements:
* Full, valid driving licence.
