Main duties of the job

1. Determine the future adoption and direction of online educational learning technologies across the organisation.
2. Take a lead role in managing existing and implementing new educational technologies.
3. Line manage the eLearning Developers.
4. Design and develop a range of blended learning modules.
5. Support the administration and evolution of the Trust’s online learning management system.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will play a crucial role in determining the future adoption and direction of online educational learning and technologies across the organisation. As an experienced eLearning Developer and technologist they will be expected to take a lead role in the management of existing (and implementation of new) educational technologies.

The post holder will also be responsible for Line Managing the eLearning Developers, designing and developing a range of blended learning modules and will be expected to support the administration and evolution of the Trust’s online learning management system.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria

6. GCSE (or equivalent) in English
7. Media/IT related degree (or equivalent experience)
8. E-learning related qualification e.g. Certificate in Online Learning, Certified e-Learning Professional
9. Familiarity with on-line technical and support resources
10. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Desirable criteria

11. Teaching qualification at Certificate in Education level (or equivalent experience) e.g. PGCE
12. Digital media qualification
13. Qualified in project management techniques
14. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, but also Word and PowerPoint

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

15. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Learning Design, including an understanding of Adult Learning Principles.
16. Familiarity and direct experience of working in an educational context in healthcare with simulation or immersive learning technologies.
17. Knowledge of learning management systems, and online delivery systems for digital products.
18. Minimum 12 months experience of developing engaging e-learning modules using best practice design principles.
19. Minimum 12 months experience of utilising e-learning authoring tools such as; Lectora, Captivate, Articulate.
20. Experience of compiling information from a number of sources and providing analysis, summary and options within detailed report information.
21. Identify products, equipment, services and facilities for assigned activities.
22. Knowledge of and experience in using a variety of statistical methods and techniques for analysing data.
23. Clear understanding of the UK healthcare education and training system and of the legislative and administrative issues around education and training of the healthcare workforce.
24. Experience of managing risks and reporting.

Desirable criteria

25. Consultancy experience including scoping out issues, putting together proposals and designing tailored solutions.
26. Knowledge of blended learning principles and use of technology/media to support education.
27. Experience of scripting, storyboarding.
28. Experience of LMS administration e.g. user management, reporting, publishing.
29. Comprehensive experience in the support of IT infrastructure and production of robust support documentation specification that can be translated to detailed design.
30. Customer focused service delivery experience in a demanding environment with conflicting priorities through the use of service desk software.
31. Experience of research and development on emerging trends, best practice and products available in the market relating to software delivery to support the needs of customers and users.
32. Experience of presenting reports and analysis to large, varied and sometimes challenging audiences.
33. Detailed knowledge of maintaining confidentiality and implementing data protection legislation requirements including information governance.
