South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Haematologist to join our friendly, dedicated, and enthusiastic clinical haematology team (5 consultants, 2 haematology middle grades, 2 SHOs, 1 FY1, 6 haematology clinical nurse specialists).
Applicants are invited to join a well-established Haematology unit. The department has a need for candidates with an interest in laboratory and transfusion haematology or myelodysplasia/myeloproliferative neoplasms. This is a 10 programmed activity (PA) post created in response to increasing demand and to support further service development.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will help provide integrated clinical and laboratory services (currently BCSH level 2a for patients at Warwick Hospital, working towards re-commencing level 2b). They will also be part of the countywide Haematology Consortium, which consists of 14 consultants, providing BCSH level 2b care across Coventry and Warwickshire. This is a general haematology post covering both malignant and non-malignant practice, with opportunities to develop areas of expertise.

OUTPATIENT SERVICES
This haematology job plan includes 3 outpatient clinics, both face-to-face and virtual, covering general haematology and specialized clinics such as lymphoma/myeloma, thrombosis, and obstetric haematology at Warwick and Stratford sites. There is also a lymphadenopathy clinic run jointly with ENT and radiology. The candidate will have opportunities to develop specialized clinics.
There are over 4000 outpatient haematology episodes annually, including nurse-led clinics for myeloproliferative and myelodysplasia disorders, as well as procedure and transfusion clinics.
IN-PATIENTS
The consultants have full admitting rights for medical beds at Warwick Hospital for level 2a and non-malignant haematology patients. The new consultant will help develop this service. Ward rounds are conducted daily, with on-call rounds over the weekend. Typically, there are around 10 inpatients.
Patients requiring level 3 or 2b treatments are transferred to ward 34 at UHCW. Patients with solid tumors under oncology care may be admitted for neutropenic sepsis under haematology care.
CHEMOTHERAPY AND DAY UNIT SERVICES
The Aylesford unit at Warwick and the Rigby Unit at Stratford provide day case chemotherapy and supportive care, including transfusions, IVIg, and bisphosphonates, for haematology and oncology patients. Warwick is a JACIE and HTA accredited site for stem cell harvesting and apheresis. The units have experienced chemotherapy nurses ensuring seamless care.

* Full and Specialist registration with the GMC or eligibility to register within six months of interview.
* UK-trained applicants must hold a CCT or be within six months of award of CCT.
