Tripod are recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work in the Dagenham area. This is to work in Adult Social Care

Hybrid working

Role – Locum Occupational Therapist

Location – Dagenham

Rate – £35-£38 an hour

Hours – Full time ideally

Contract Length – Ongoing

Job Purpose

To undertake person-centred assessments (as directed by Care Act 2014) utilising Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge to develop and implement a support plan, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes for adults and children with disabilities.The post holder will also provide advice on specialist equipment/adaptations and housing needs to improve their health and wellbeing and maximise their independence.

Specific Accountabilities of the Role

* Carry out the Occupational Therapy process in partnership with service users and carers, facilitating choice, empowerment and promoting independence.
* Carry out assessment of need and evaluation of risk in partnership with service users and carers.
* Carry out risk assessment in relation to moving and handling tasks, in partnership with service users and carers.
* Support service users and carers to identify and purchase aids and adaptations and receive support with reference to the Children’s & Families Act 1989 and 2004 and the Care Act 2014.
* Positively contribute to the achievement of joint working by referring, liaising, consulting and collaborating effectively with other professionals; working with the statutory, voluntary and private sectors e.g. Social Care Staff, Health Care Professionals, Children’s Services, Housing Teams, Home Improvement Agencies and contractors, to identify and meet service users’ and carers’ needs.
* Contribute to and lead multi-disciplinary assessments and case conferences as required.
* Through using the wide range of tools and options available, support service users to develop their own support plans using a person-centred approach to determine their goals, aims and objectives and to explore creative ways of meeting their needs.
* Apply expert knowledge and skills to provide support and advice and teach techniques for service users and carers with a wide range of conditions and needs.
* Provide both simple and complex equipment and adaptations, reviewing their effectiveness and teaching safe use of equipment to comply with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines on safe working practices.
* Work within a multi-agency setting to contribute to the process of providing major adaptations including; assessment, clinical reasoning, providing written and drawn specifications, completion checks and liaison with technical officers and other agencies.
* Produce Occupational Therapy reports where required.
* Manage and progress a caseload of an appropriate level of complexity with due regard to service standards, targets and timescales.
* Provide case supervision, guidance, support and expert advice to unqualified and other social care staff, newly qualified Occupational Therapists and students where appropriate.
* Undertake project work and complex occupational therapy assessments as directed by the Enabling Independence Team Manager.
* Maintain professional standards in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice including regular participation in the local supervision and performance management process and by positively contributing to the Continuing Professional Development of the Occupational Therapy Service.
* Maintain high standards of record keeping on the Council’s electronic systems, ensuring that all information is timely, accurate and complete to ensure the service meets all statutory recording requirements.
* Participate in investigating safeguarding concerns as appropriate and in accordance with departmental requirements.
* Work when required within Community Solutions to provide an assessment and triage function for the Disability Service.
