VAT Manager Newcastle | £40,000 - £65,000 Our client is seeking a skilled VAT Manager to lead a portfolio of clients, deliver strategic advice on complex VAT matters, and manage a small team. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative national VAT team, working closely with regional colleagues to provide high-quality, commercially focused solutions. You'll build strong client relationships, liaise with internal and international networks, and help businesses manage VAT obligations throughout their lifecycle. The role also involves training and developing junior team members, contributing to proposals and tenders, and spotting opportunities for new business. The important work you will be doing, but not limited to: Manage a portfolio of clients, delivering proactive VAT advice and solutions. Lead VAT registrations, group changes, deregistrations, options to tax, and complex applications. Oversee VAT reviews, health checks, due diligence projects, and technical research. Act as main point of contact for clients, HMRC, and internal teams. Drive efficiencies, champion new technologies, and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge. Mentor junior team members and deliver training internally and externally. About you Qualified in accountancy or tax (e.g. ATT/CTA/ACA/ACCA/CA) or qualified by experience. Strong VAT technical skills, developed in an accountancy practice environment. Confident communicator with a client-focused approach and commercial awareness. Able to lead projects, make informed decisions, and manage competing deadlines.
