Robert Half Accountancy and Finance are partnering with an established, friendly and highly regarded regional law firm in Berkshire. Seeking an experienced Practice Manager / Legal Accounts & Compliance Manager to take responsibility for the firm's financial operations, regulatory compliance, and key administrative functions. This is a pivotal role within a small-to-mid-sized practice, offering autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to play a central part in the smooth running of the firm. The Role Reporting directly to the Partners, you will have day-to-day and annual responsibility for the firm's accounts and compliance processes, alongside selected HR and operational duties. Duties will include (but are not limited to): Overall responsibility for the firm's accounts function Preparing information for annual accounts and SAR audit VAT returns Corporate tax instalments Payroll administration Managing NI and tax payments to HMRC Checking and authorising TTs/BACS payments from client account Ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs) SRA applications and regulatory submissions Managing CQS applications and annual training compliance Practising certificate bulk renewal Insurance renewals and accreditation management Liaising with third-party suppliers (including IT providers and service contractors) Supporting staff with software/system queries Assisting with HR administration including holidays, sickness and DBS checks About You You will have: Previous experience within a law firm accounts or practice management role Strong working knowledge of SRA regulations and Solicitors Accounts Rules Experience preparing for SAR audits and year-end accounts Hands-on experience with VAT, payroll, and HMRC payments Confidence managing client accounts and authorising transfers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently Experience with LEAP case management system would be advantageous but is not essential.
