Position: School Office/Business Manager
Location: Sonning Common
Salary: £38,000 - £40,500 per annum
Planet Recruitment have registered an exciting opportunity for a School Office/Business Manager for our client in the Sonning Common area.
The Role:
As a School Office/Business Manager, you will be pivotal in managing the business functions of the school, including health and safety, human resources, compliance, and administration. This role is a 12-14 month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure the smooth and effective running of the school office.
- Contribute to the planning and organisation of support service systems.
- Manage HR processes including recruitment, induction, and staff appraisals.
- Oversee premises and facilities management ensuring safety and compliance.
- Handle administrative tasks such as record keeping, data analysis, and report generation.
- Maintain compliance with statutory obligations and school policies.
- Support the headteacher with employee relations and HR issues.
About You:
Applicants should possess strong leadership and staff management skills, with experience in HR processes, employment law, and staff development. Proficiency in ICT and excellent organisational and communication skills are essential. The ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines is crucial.
Required:
- Professional qualification in business management or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of HR processes and employment law.
- Experience in premises, health & safety, and risk management.
- Understanding of financial processes such as order processing and payroll.
Desirable:
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Financial experience.
- Recognised HR or Estates professional qualification (CIPD, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of education sector regulations and safer recruitment processes.
