Salary: £44,000 (Manager Grade 1) plus Car Allowance
Contractual hours: 37.5
Basis: Full time
Package: 37 days holiday per annum (pro rata) – Car Allowance – Industry Leading Pension – Agile Working (2 days per week in the office)

CalMac Ferries is looking for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to step into a pivotal 12-months role supporting our people through an exciting period of transformation, including the delivery of new vessels and infrastructure.
This is more than a communications job. It’s your opportunity to influence how over two thousand colleagues stay informed, engaged, and connected, both onshore and at sea.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take the lead in bringing CalMac’s internal communications strategy to life, ensuring critical messages reach the right people, at the right time, in the right way.
From major transformation programmes to day-to-day operational updates, you’ll be at the heart of it all.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the planning and delivery of impactful communications across key programmes, functions, and projects
* Supporting the rollout of new vessels and infrastructure, ensuring colleagues feel informed and included
* Creating engaging, inspiring content that resonates across a diverse workforce
* Enhancing and evolving internal communication channels, finding smarter, better ways to connect
* Acting as a trusted partner to leaders and teams, building advocacy and trust
* Delivering training, advice, and support to empower others to communicate effectively
* Getting out across the network, meeting colleagues face-to-face and understanding what matters to them
* Managing documentation, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and accessibility
* Championing CalMac’s brand voice, tone, and style internally
What You’ll Bring
You're a confident communicator who thrives in a fast-moving, people-focused environment.
We’re looking for:
* Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years in internal communications
* Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
* A flair for different forms of creative communication
* Proven experience delivering communications strategies or plans
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
* A natural ability to listen, evaluate, and translate complex information
* Passion for engaging people and driving positive change
