Specialist Occupational Therapist

We're thrilled to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our forward-thinking Halton Intermediate Care and Frailty Service (HICAF). If you're passionate about promoting independence, delivering person-centred care, and making a real difference in people's lives, we want to hear from you!

We've been on an inspiring journey to transform intermediate care in Halton, bringing together health and social care into one integrated, collaborative team. You'll be part of a service that truly puts people first, working in their own homes or in discharge-to-assess units, following a home first approach.

You’ll have opportunity to rotate across key areas of our service, gaining diverse experience and making a meaningful impact:

* Single Point of Access
* Community Rapid Response / Frailty Team
* Reablement Team
* Intermediate Care Unit

Join our vibrant multidisciplinary team including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Therapy & Nursing Assistants, Dieticians, Care Support Workers, and Administrators. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.


Main duties of the job

* Carry out holistic therapy assessments and provide clear diagnoses
* Design and deliver personalised treatment programmes that empower patients
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and liaise with external agencies to ensure seamless care
* Contribute to service improvement projects, audits, and in-service training
* Support and supervise students and junior staff, helping shape the next generation of therapists
* You’ll need to be adaptable and ready to travel across Halton to meet service needs.

Job responsibilities

Our service runs 7 days a week, from 8am to 8pm, including weekends and bank holidays. You’ll work on a rota basis, giving you flexibility and variety in your schedule. Part time hours will be considered.

We offer a structured induction program. Career progression support provided through individual job plan, core skills training, mentoring, regular supervision, CPD sessions to become skilled specialist clinicians with a good range of knowledge and hands on experience.

We welcome applicants looking for band 5 to band 6 developmental role.

Our service supports teams health and wellbeing through activities and accommodate flexible working.

We expect you to be hardworking, motivated, compassionate clinician with strong communication and organisational skills. Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. A proactive team player whose ready to lead and learn. Having a flexible mindset and excellent time management are key to thriving in this role.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Under Graduate Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
* Completion of relevant Post Graduate training
* Clinical educators certification


Experience

* Previous NHS experience
* Experience of Band 5 /6 core rotations
* Experience of supervising, appraising and training staff and students.
* Experience of managing challenging situations
* Band 5/6 experience within Intermediate Care or related community role
* Experience of audits, service development and implementation of change


Knowledge

* Understanding of local and national drivers for service delivery
* Awareness of trust core values
* Continuing commitment to CPD
* IT literate in word processing and spread sheets
* Awareness of clinical governance and its impact on therapy services
* Participation in staff management


Skills

* Able to use initiative and be proactive
* Demonstrates being flexible within a team
* Experience of effective contribution to MDT working
* Demonstrate effective communications skills both written and verbal
* Experience of single handed care equipment and approaches
