Job Description Job Description: Quantity Surveyor Overview My client are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their growing and dynamic team. You will play a critical role in managing construction costs and ensuring projects are delivered within budget while meeting quality and safety standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced quantity surveyor to contribute to innovative refurbishment and construction projects with a leading main contractor. Responsibilities As a Quantity Surveyor, your main duties will include: Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for construction projects. Conducting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises as needed. Collaborating with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure cost-effective project delivery. Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor agreements and contracts. Monitoring project progress and preparing reports related to costs, cash flows, and financial forecasts. Managing variations, claims, and resolving disputes in an efficient and professional manner. Conducting on-site visits to monitor progress and ensure adherence to budget and quality standards. Proactively identifying areas for cost savings without compromising on functionality or quality. Staying up to date with relevant legislation and compliance requirements in the construction industry. Qualifications To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, particularly within refurbishment or main contractor roles. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations. Excellent analytical and numerical skills with keen attention to detail. Proficiency in relevant construction estimating and project management software. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities. Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or equivalent is desirable but not essential. Day-to-Day On a typical day as a Quantity Surveyor, you can expect to: Attend project meetings with clients, contractors, and architects to discuss costings and project scope. Draft and review bills of quantities, schedules of works, and tender packages. Conduct site measurements and valuations to assess progress and ensure alignment with project budgets. Analyse project risks and propose cost-effective measures to mitigate them. Update financial reports and liaise with finance teams for payment certifications and reconciliations. Collaborate with project teams to address challenges and recommend solutions on-site or in the office.
