About The Role

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

Location: (West of Scotland)

Company: Balfour Beatty

Project: Scape projects

Balfour Beatty is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our civil engineering team delivering major infrastructure across the West of Scotland. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and wants to make a tangible impact on project performance and delivery.


Key Responsibilities

* Commercial Management
o Measure, record and value work in accordance with relevant rules and procedures
o Prepare cost reconciliation statements, Bills of Quantities and schedules of rates
o Build up estimates from first principles (net and gross)
o Review and interpret drawings, specifications and works information
o Collate cost and value data and contribute to monthly reporting
o Understand customer contracts and manage stakeholders for your area
o Support the management of delay and disruption assessments
* Procurement
o Collect and organise procurement information
o Prepare, manage and adjudicate subcontract enquiries
o Record and document procurement activities to required standards
* Governance & Systems
o Apply the company’s governance requirements (BMS & GMCEs)
o Use ERP and digital systems to manage data, costs and progress


Essential Skills & Experience

* BSc / MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
* Experience in civil engineering projects
* CSCS card (AQP/PQP)
* Chartered or working towards MRICS / MCInstCES / MCIOB
* Strong analytical, organisational and commercial awareness
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
