Join to apply for the Production Shift Manager role at BBF Limited. We are recruiting for the 2pm–10pm shift at our Shadsworth bakery in Blackburn. You will lead and develop an Operations Shift, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient order fulfilment, with a focus on health and safety, product quality, cost control, and team engagement.

Production Shift Manager (2pm–10pm) | Salary up to £43,388
Responsibilities
* Ensure the Shift and people conform to SHE legislation, policies, and standards.
* Take a pro-active approach to the reduction of accidents, risks, and hazards in the factory to create a safe working environment.
* Maintain an environment of reporting all accidents, aiming for accident rate reduction; address near misses and hazards.
* Complete pre-start up paperwork and ensure issues are reported; keep Risk Assessments up to date.
* Ensure all product releases meet Food Safety and Quality standards/legislation; ensure traceability and document control.
* Ensure the Team operates to specifications and that all products released are to QAS standards.
* Audit-related responsibilities including Paperwork compliance, Audit/Visit readiness, and GMP performance targets.
* Effectively manage controllable costs of labour, raw materials, and waste; maintain stock accuracy; labour to budget.
* Deliver the production schedule on time in full; drive line performance across OEE, waste, weights, and operational downtime; reduce line downtime.
* Provide effective reporting of line performance and variances; maintain good relations with Engineering for prompt corrective actions.
* Conduct effective shift handovers and plant walk rounds; lead, motivate, train, and develop the Team to meet business requirements.
* Ensure the Team adheres to all policies and procedures; support succession planning and mandatory training; deliver team briefs.
* Develop a CI culture within the Team; own Continuous Improvement projects; initiate root cause investigations and drive follow-up actions.
* Maintain positive trends in KPIs for Safety/Quality/Cost/Delivery.
Qualifications
* Background in food production management.
* Ability to coach and lead as well as manage; able to engage Direct Reports and train and develop them.
* Open, honest, and respectful relationships with all colleagues.
* Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision; ability to work as part of a wider Manufacturing Team, including NPD and support functions.
* PC literate (MS Office, TROPOS).
* Excellent planning and organisational skills; strong communication skills.
* Flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
