Description
The Solutions Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering technology solutions across the Lloyd’s and wider London Market insurance ecosystem. This position blends strategic architecture leadership with hands‑on solution design, ensuring that complex business, regulatory, and operational requirements are translated into robust, scalable, and future‑ready technology architectures.
The role requires deep understanding of London Market processes (including placement, underwriting, claims, and delegated authority), alongside the ability to design enterprise and SaaS‑based solutions that align with evolving market standards, digital transformation initiatives, and emerging AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design
* Design end‑to‑end enterprise architectures spanning in‑house platforms, SaaS products, and hybrid environments.
* Develop solution blueprints that align with Lloyd’s/London Market processes, regulatory frameworks, and data standards (e.g., Blueprint Two, ACORD).
* Lead solution design for underwriting, claims, policy admin, and delegated authority systems across the insurance value chain.
* Define integration patterns for internal systems, third‑party platforms, and client/customer environments.
* Ensure architectural governance, technical quality, and alignment with enterprise standards.
Target Operating Models & Roadmaps
* Shape target operating models that support digital transformation and modernisation across underwriting, operations, and distribution.
* Create multi‑year technology roadmaps that reflect business strategy, regulatory change, and market evolution.
* Facilitate architecture workshops with business, technology, and market stakeholders.
* Assess current‑state architecture and define transition states to achieve the desired target operating model.
AI & Emerging Technology Integration
* Evaluate and integrate AI/ML capabilities into underwriting, claims, bordereaux processing, and operational workflows.
* Design architectures that incorporate generative AI, intelligent automation, and advanced analytics.
* Ensure responsible AI adoption, including data governance, model transparency, and regulatory compliance.
* Collaborate with data science/analytics teams to operationalise models within enterprise systems.
Systems Integration & Interoperability
* Design secure, scalable integration patterns for customer and broker systems, including APIs, event‑driven architectures, and data exchange frameworks.
* Support adoption of London Market integration standards such as PPL, DDM, LIMOSS services, and Blueprint Two APIs.
* Oversee vendor and SaaS integration ensuring interoperability, data quality, and performance.
* Define non‑functional requirements including security, resilience, scalability, and compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
* Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, underwriters, operations teams, and IT stakeholders.
* Translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.
* Lead cross‑functional architecture forums and contribute to enterprise architecture governance.
* Support vendor selection through technical evaluation, RFP processes, and solution assessments.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Insurance & Market Expertise
* Deep knowledge of Lloyd’s and London Market processes including placement, endorsements, claims, and delegated authority.
* Experience with market platforms such as PPL, DDM, Chorus, and LIMOSS services.
* Understanding of Blueprint Two, ACORD standards, and digital market reforms.
Technical & Architectural Skills
* Proven experience designing enterprise‑scale solutions across hybrid and cloud environments.
* Strong background in SaaS integration and vendor ecosystem management.
* Expertise in API‑led architecture, microservices, and event‑driven patterns.
* Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure primarily, plus AWS) and modern DevOps practices.
