SEN Teacher – Reading
Temp-to-Perm | KS2–KS4 | Alternative Provision
We’re working with a fantastic alternative provision in Reading that’s looking for a committed SEN Teacher to join their team from September. It’s a long-term role with the potential to go permanent for the right person.
The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including autism and SEMH, and they’re looking for someone who’s confident, calm under pressure, and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed—both in and out of the classroom.
What you’ll be doing:
* Teaching across KS2 to KS4 in small, focused groups.
* Planning and delivering lessons that are creative, flexible, and tailored to individual needs.
* Working closely with support staff and external professionals to make sure every pupil gets the right support.
* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have had a tough time in mainstream settings.
What they’re looking for:
* QTS is a must – they can’t consider unqualified teachers for this one.
* Recent school-based references (within the last two years).
* Experience working with pupils with autism and/or SEMH.
* Someone who’s confident managing behaviour in a positive, trauma-informed way.
* This would suit someone on M2 to M5 of the pay scale.
Why this role?
* Supportive, down-to-earth team who really care about what they do.
* Great opportunity to build long-term relationships and see real progress.
* Ongoing CPD and a clear path to a permanent role.
