Role Description
As a Senior Planner at McLoughlin Planning Ltd, you will manage and lead a diverse array of planning projects, from initial client consultations through to securing planning permissions. Responsibilities include preparing and submitting detailed planning applications, engaging with stakeholders and local authorities, conducting site appraisals, and providing strategic planning advice. The role further includes managing project timelines, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to the company’s business development activities. This is a full-time hybrid role, based in Cheltenham, with the option for some remote work.
Qualifications
* Strong expertise in planning processes, including experience in managing planning applications, liaising with local authorities, and conducting site appraisals.
* Knowledge of planning legislation, policies, and frameworks, with the ability to provide strategic and commercially focused planning advice.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in preparing reports, planning documents, and client presentations.
* Project management skills, including time management, leadership, and the ability to mentor team members effectively.
* Proven ability to innovate and apply creative problem-solving to complex planning challenges, maximizing outcomes such as ROI, sustainability, and heritage preservation.
* RTPI qualification or eligibility for RTPI membership is required.
* Experience working in local authority or private-sector planning consultancy is beneficial.
* Familiarity with geographic regions such as Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds, and nearby counties is an advantage.
