Welcome to The Fairfield Family at Fairfield General Hospital, Bury Care Organisation! We are part of the larger Northern Care Alliance of hospitals in the region which also includes Salford Royal Hospital, Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. We are looking for great colleagues to join our team in the directorate of Respiratory Medicine for a doctor who can lead, complement and develop general and specialist respiratory and lung cancer care within the Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford Locality.
We are part of a hospital and medical department rated as “outstanding” by the CQC, and a close-knit community of medical colleagues who support each other. The Respiratory Directorate provides specialist services from our hospital sites and community settings for the people in the North East sector of Greater Manchester.
Responsibilities
* Lead, complement and develop respiratory and lung cancer care within the Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford Locality.
* Lead and develop an acute respiratory “hot clinic” to allow patients presenting to A&E / SDEC to be discharged with early respiratory input on discharge or to see urgent referrals from primary care.
* Conduct triage, virtual and outpatient review of general respiratory referrals.
* Contribute to local and shared MDTs for lung cancer, sleep, ILD and asthma, and regional asthma and cough MDTs based on specialist interests.
* Perform pleural day‑case procedures, including indwelling pleural catheters, within the Pleural Assessment Unit, and assist with weekly thoracoscopies at the Salford site.
Requirements
* Candidate must be on the Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine (GIM) or hold the certificate of completion of specialist training, or expect to do so within six months of the interview for the appointment.
* Experience or strong interest in lung cancer (including screening and EBUS provision), sleep, ILD, pleural and asthma is desirable.
* Ability to lead, develop and manage respiratory services, and to engage in leadership and sessional commitments.
