As a Senior Planner with Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, you will be part of a small yet busy planning team, handling a varied range of planning applications for both strategic and immediate sites, of varying scales and complexity. The role offers a broad area of responsibility across all aspects of the planning process, including detailed development management and delivery. We are primarily looking for someone with proven experience in managing planning applications, coordinating consultant teams, and negotiating with planning officers to secure deliverable planning consents. A good understanding of development management policy requirements is essential.
What you'll do as a Senior Planner
1. Produce site assessments, examine planning histories, analyze policies, interpret and consider material considerations, and conduct new site appraisals for immediate and strategic sites to maintain relationships with the Land team and protect the company's interests.
2. Prepare and project manage various planning applications, including Outline/Full and Reserved Matters, as well as the discharge of planning conditions and s106 obligations, ensuring timely submission to support site development.
3. Liaise and brief internal layout designers, external consultants, and Local Planning Authority officers before, during, and after submission to develop strong working relationships.
4. Prepare Design & Access Statements and other planning documents required to support applications accurately and on time, enabling the business to secure positive planning outcomes.
5. Organize supporting information and attend stakeholder/public consultation events professionally to foster confidence with the public.
6. Formulate planning strategies to promote medium and long-term development sites through the plan-making process under the guidance of the Planning Manager, maintaining a pipeline of new sites for the region.
7. Demonstrate experience in managing planning applications within private or public sectors.
8. Show evidence of working in the private or development sectors.
9. Possess a Degree or Masters in Planning with RTPI accreditation and comprehensive planning knowledge.
10. Adapt to change and work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
11. Be an enthusiastic, hardworking individual willing to show initiative, working as part of a small team in a busy office.
12. Exhibit professional written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
13. Hold a full UK driving licence.
