NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is long day dayshift and nightshift rotation, consisting of 37 hours per week (reducing to 36 hours from April 2026).


Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services for a Health Care Support Worker to join our Inpatient Services on a permanent basis.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will have the daily opportunity to be involved in the delivery of high quality, patient-centred care for individuals requiring care and treatment for alcohol and substance use.


Qualifications

Applicants should be able to evidence and demonstrate a strong desire and motivation to practice within an inpatient alcohol and drug recovery service with the ability to always provide high quality, person‑centred and compassionate care. Applicants must be able to fulfil the main duties and responsibilities as outlined within the job description. Effective verbal, written and electronic communication skills as well as effective time management are essential.


Additional Requirements

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. The successful candidate will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland.
