Could you be the calm, consistent support a young person needs to thrive? A specialist SEN school in Barnet is currently recruiting a full‑time Behaviour Mentor to support children and young people with Autism (ASD), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and additional learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and feel positive about education again. No two days are the same, and every small win genuinely matters.
Responsibilities
* Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis
* Help pupils regulate emotions and engage positively within school
* Manage challenging behaviour using calm and consistent strategies
* Build strong and trusting relationships with students
* Support students both inside and outside of the classroom
* Encourage communication, confidence, and social development
* Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
* Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
* A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills
* A genuine passion for supporting young people
* The ability to stay calm under pressure and build positive relationships
* All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position; the option to make this role permanent may become available later.
