Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision

Contract: Full-time
Salary: £85 - £105 per day

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a well-established SEMH provision, working closely with students who require additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to young lives, helping them develop the confidence and skills they need for the future.
Your Role Will Include:
Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups with their academic and emotional development
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma, disrupted education, or behavioural challenges
Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivery of tailored learning activities
Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour through a consistent and therapeutic approach
Supporting pupils with strategies to manage anxiety, low self-esteem and behavioural outbursts
Working closely with pastoral teams, therapists, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or similar (e.g., PRUs, alternative provision, youth work)
A calm, patient and empathetic nature
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
The ability to remain positive and resilient in challenging situations
Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, Thrive, Attachment Awareness) is highly desirable but not essential – full training will be provided for the right candidate.
