We are looking to appoint a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist for 10 sessions ( 9 generic CAMHS, 1 L.D session - sector based ) to join our comprehensive Wolverhampton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
The Consultant in CAMHS service is required to provide medical expertise and support the existing staff in the assessment, diagnosis and management of children and adolescents presenting with mental health problems. The consultant will provide support to clinical colleagues in deciding the most appropriate intervention for patients referred to the service. As a part of the job, the consultant is required to provide one session input to L.D CAMHS for the designated sector area.
The successful Candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a flexible approach to service delivery. We are looking for a team player who enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary setting with highly experienced and skilled staff. The candidate should be capable of providing clinical leadership for the team as well as contributing at senior level to development of our services

The CAMHS services are organised under CAMHS directorate and provides services to Black Country boroughs of Walsall, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Sandwell through four CAMHS teams. There is mix of both district wide and locality based services. Since the merger there has been a move towards harmonization of the services however ensuring that, the local best practice continues.

The Wolverhampton Team's base is at The Gem Centre in Wolverhampton. The support from the multidisciplinary team is common to all consultants. Additional support is available from the Crisis Team, the Inspire Team (CAMHS LD) and Key Team (Home Treatment) and the LAC Team.
The Jigsaw Clinic is a service run by Paediatricians, Psychologists and Educational Psychologists to help with the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD and ASD. Complex cases are seen by the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.
Wolverhampton CAMHS has implemented SPOA ( single point of access for triaging the referrals ) which then follow a triage and brief intervention, following which if required a longer piece of specialist work is offered. The Consultants Psychiatrists have referral meeting for the cases referred to medics for further assessment, consideration of medication or diagnosis. The cases are allocated depending on the GP catchment area.

Skills, Experience and qualifications
Essential
1. Full registration with General Medical Council Inclusion on or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council or within 6 months of CCST/CCT or equivalent in Child and Adolescent psychiatry at date of interview. Section 12 (2) Approval + Approved Clinician Status or demonstrated ability to gain approval within reasonable time frame
2. MB, ChB, MBBS or equivalent Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent 3 years higher professional training in Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
3. Relevant experience in the speciality of Child and adolescent Psychiatry The diagnosis and treatment of complex mental illness
