University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for an operationally experienced and motivated individual to join the Surgical Care Group as Service Manager for our Head & Neck services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the operational delivery and performance of ENT and Oral & Maxillofacial pathways working closely with the Care Group leadership team, Clinical lead and Matrons.
* Ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred care and deliver key national targets including RTT and cancer standards.
* Drive forward service improvement and transformation initiatives, taking real ownership of complex services and providing visible leadership.
* Contribute to strategic planning, influencing service development and shaping the future of the service through demand and capacity planning, using data and modelling to inform workforce and service configuration.
* Oversee day‑to‑day operational delivery, making timely decisions, prioritising effectively and supporting teams in a fast‑paced environment.
* Work with administrative, clinical, nursing and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality care and maintain strong governance, effective risk management and clear reporting processes.
* Participate in the surgery SPOC rota, supporting the acute and elective pathways and collaborating with ED and hospital site colleagues to meet the 4‑hour ED target.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a motivated Service Manager who is:
* Operationally experienced, confident and proactive, with a strong focus on patient‑centred care.
* Flexible and forward‑thinking, thriving on variety and able to provide senior operational support and cross‑cover when needed.
* Skilled in risk management, governance and transparent reporting to ensure safe, effective and resilient services during periods of change or increased demand.
