About the School
This is a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) specialist school for pupils aged 11-16. The school provides education for students with a diverse range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Many pupils present with additional needs across the four areas outlined in the SEN Code of Practice, including:
* Cognition and learning needs
* Communication and interaction difficulties
* Autism (with SEMH as the primary need)
* ADHD and associated challenges
* Medical needs

The Role
You will deliver engaging and accessible English lessons, tailored to meet a wide range of learning abilities and needs. You will play a key role in developing students' literacy, communication, and confidence, using creative and adaptive teaching strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver differentiated English lessons
* Support students with SEMH and additional needs in developing literacy skills
* Adapt resources to suit individual learning styles and abilities
* Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets
* Foster a positive and supportive classroom environmentWork collaboratively with teaching assistants and external professionals
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Experience teaching English, ideally within an SEN/SEMH setting
* Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and behaviour management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
