Assistant Ranger - Holt Summary Important notice In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy. With a love for the great outdoors, you’ll enjoy working with nature and want to inspire and motivate others. You’ll help to make habitats for wildlife better and make everyone feel welcome at our places Based on the stunning North Norfolk Coast, you’ll help safeguard rare species, manage dynamic habitats, and create meaningful connections between people and nature. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role that offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a remote, tide-dependent location. Seasonal accommodation is provided, and the role includes weekend, bank holiday and occasional evening work, with some on-call responsibilities. Salary: 24,862.50 per annum Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 10-Oct-2026 Hours/working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role. What it's like to work here Waking up to the sounds of seals, seabirds, weather and waves is pretty magical. From March to October, you'll be living and working with a small team in the iconic blue Lifeboat House on Blakeney Point. Access is tide-dependent, so you’ll use a boat and 4x4 vehicle to get around. Planning your days off and supermarket trips takes a bit of strategy, but it’s all part of the adventure. You’ll be part of a small, dedicated team working in a truly dynamic coastal environment. What you'll be doing Your summer role is varied and hands-on. You’ll prepare for the arrival of nesting seabirds by installing electric fencing, signage, and miles of pin and rope to guide visitors safely around sensitive areas. Predator control is also a key responsibility, along with enforcing dog restrictions to protect wildlife during critical breeding seasons. Once the birds arrive, your focus shifts to monitoring and surveying, and engaging positively with visitors and volunteers to build understanding and support for conservation. You’ll help maintain site presentation, support volunteer activity, and contribute to the day-to-day running of Blakeney Point. With changing tides, shifting weather and a seasonal cast of wildlife, no two days are the same. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in coastal conservation and visitor engagement in a truly special place.
