Headteacher – New Specialist School (SEMH)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £70,000 – £85,000 base

About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious and values-driven Headteacher to lead the creation of a brand-new specialist school from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to shape a school's vision, culture, and provision. You will play a pivotal role in designing a high-quality educational environment that meets the needs of young people with SEMH and related needs. From recruiting and developing your team to working closely with external partners, you will be instrumental in ensuring the school becomes a trusted and preferred placement for local authorities.
This role is ideal for a forward-thinking leader who thrives on building something meaningful, has a strong understanding of SEND education, and is passionate about delivering excellent outcomes for young people.
About the School
The new school is being purpose-designed to support pupils with SEMH. You will be involved in shaping both the physical environment and the educational model to ensure it fully supports the needs of the cohort from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the establishment and opening of a new SEMH specialist school
Recruit, inspire and develop a high-performing staff team
Design and implement an effective, inclusive curriculum
Ensure compliance with Independent School Standards
Drive continuous improvement and prepare the school for inspection
Build strong working relationships with local authorities and stakeholder.
Create a positive, nurturing culture for both staff and pupils
About You
Proven experience as a Headteacher (or equivalent senior leader) within a SEND or SEMH setting
Strong knowledge of school improvement planning and curriculum development
A clear understanding of regulatory and inspection frameworks
A people-focused leadership style with the ability to motivate and support others
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A proactive, solution-focused mindset
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
