EXCITING OPPORTUNITY, NOT TO BE MISSED! The Gorleston PCH are looking for a dedicated Phlebotomist to join their busy team, which covers Gorleston.

The successful candidate will provide phlebotomy services to housebound patients and care home residents.

They will mange the waiting list to ensure that patients referred for phlebotomy have their blood sample obtained in the correct time frame and ensure that samples obtained are returned to collection sites to ensure timely processing, reporting concerns to senior staff.

East Coast Community Healthcare CIC is an exciting social enterprise providing a range of NHS community health and social care services across the Suffolk / Norfolk border area.

This post is for 24 hours per week.

Under current UK immigration rules, this role does not meet theeligibility requirements for sponsorship under either the Health and CareWorker visa or the Skilled Worker visa routes


Main duties of the job

To undertake venous blood samples (phlebotomy), ensuring the highest quality of patient centred care at all times

To provide patients with appropriate level of support and reassurance throughout procedures

To be constantly observant and and promptly report any changes in the patients condition and circumstance

To maintain infection prevention and control measures at all times in line with ECCH policy including sharps injury

Promote confidence in the patient by means of appropriate standards of appearance, behaviour and attitudes

Safeguard the confidentiality of all information regarding the patient and their family

To be able to respond effectively without direct supervision in an emergency situation where there is concern for the health and well-being of the patient

Maintain sufficient stock levels of equipment for service and participate in re-ordering of equipment to ensure smooth delivery

Comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act, reporting hazards and adverse incidents, and proactively contributing to improving the safety of patients, staff and visitors

Ensure own competence in the use of equipment. Maintain all items of equipment in a clean and tidy condition, reporting faults and deficiencies promptly

Maintain compliance with mandatory training and attend other training as required

Person Specification


Experience

* Previous experience of working with people in a caring environment
* Ability to work without direct supervision
* Ability to prioritise workload
* Previous experience of working in a community setting
* Previous experience of working in NHS or other healthcare provider


Skills and Knowledge

* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to use IT equipment
* Previous experience of phlebotomy

* Motivated and enthusiastic
* Flexible and dependable
* The ability to travel across the community
* Willingness and ability to work across different sites and travel to alternative sites and across the community as required

Qualifications

* NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or by experience
