Job Description
Title: Packaging Artworker
Reporting to: Head of Creative
Hours: 35 per week (Mon-Fri)
Location: Cheadle, SK8 (Hybrid working available)
So, what’s the job ‘in one’?
We are looking for a skilled Packaging Artworker to join our Packaging team as a part of our wider Creative Team. You play a pivotal role in the actualisation of a broad range of concepts and artwork packaging for customers both here in the UK and worldwide.
This role requires a keen eye for detail, experience working with cutter guides and within design parameters, the ability to create print-ready artwork, and expertise in proofreading and checking artwork for print. Over time, you will learn the nuances of the wine industry legal requirements across multiple countries. You will collaborate closely with the Packaging team, Production, Compliance and other departments across the business.
What will this involve?
* Layout - Design back-of-pack information, including legal requirements, barcodes and QR code, demonstrating an eye for detail and refinement.
* Artwork – Create print-ready artwork based on provided design concepts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
* Proofing – Thoroughly proofread and check artwork for print, maintaining high standards of quality and precision.
* Approval – Ensure all approval streams have been confirmed before release of artwork.
* Project / Time Management – Collaborate effectively with the Packaging Project Managers, Packaging Designers and, where required, other cross-functional departments to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery of the artworking phase. You will also learn and be responsible for management of relevant files and data across Project Management tools, mainly Asana, and internal filing systems.
* Communicate – Communicate and collaborate clearly and effectively with Boutinot staff, Production sites and Printers across the Globe to ensure regulations, requirements, technical and legal are all adhered to.
* Regulations – liaise with Packaging Project Managers and internal technical teams to gain knowledge of labelling regulations and ensure all our packaging meets with legislation. You will also need to understand how labelling requirements differ by market.
* Printers, dry goods & packaging knowledge – Gain a strong understanding of all relevant print processes, in some instances liaising directly with printers & packaging manufacturers; working knowledge of key technical specs for packaging (bottles, cartons, BIBs, tetras etc) and liaise effectively with our production teams.
* Create mocks – When necessary, assist in mock creation; either in-house or outsourced.
* Help – You may be required to assist the wider Creative Team on tasks such as artworking of booklets for print and large format stand graphics.
* Event attendance / customer visits – may be required both in UK & internationally.
What kind of person are we looking for?
* Collaborative nature with a strong work ethic, diligence, and commitment to meeting deadlines
* Demonstrated experience within packaging- work within the beverage industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
* A strong understanding with cutter guides & proficient in artwork layout techniques.
* Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* An adaptive mindset to handle ever-evolving requirements.
* Strong knowladge of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator. Proficient in Mac operating system, and basic knowledge of MS Office.
* You will be confident in managing your part of the wider project from end to end with strong time management and organisational skills.
* You should have an interest in wine and be passionate about working with it. But we’re not expecting you to be a wine expert!
Why Boutinot? Why now?
You’re going to love working here because there are more good reasons to join Boutinot than there are great bottles in our product range. Obviously, immersing yourself in wine (not literally) is a great reason to do anything, and you’ll soon find yourself knowing more about wine than you ever thought possible. You’ll be working with passionate, friendly, talented people just like you, valued for your skills, and rewarded for your contribution. You’ll be part of an amazing, growing, vibrant business with a superb future that you’ll be a vital part of. And there’s wine, lots of wine.
Aside from the obvious perks, we’ll give you things like private healthcare, a generous pension, a private gym, access to the accommodation at our wineries abroad, free WSET training, a holiday purchase scheme, a discounted staff account, a cycle to work scheme, long service and special occasion rewards, and a profit share scheme. We’re always looking at our benefits and constantly seeking to improve what we can give back to our people.
