Job Details
1. Attendance at five (5) clinical sessions per week at KCH in hepatology department. However, flexibility in covering clinical commitments will be required.
2. Requirement to support data collection and potential to work cross-site and develop specific projects
3. The post holder will be involved in research projects. Previous areas of interest have been Hepatitis C and DAAs and more recently fibrosis and NAFLD and exploring the unique cohorts of HBV at Kings are focus areas. Prior experience of research into these fields would be an advantage but not mandatory.
4. Potential involvement in clinical trials (Phase 1- Phase 3)
5. One session is for administrative duties resulting from the clinical sessions for the writing of letters and the organisation and follow up of relevant investigations.
6. Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Trust in such hospital, health centres or clinics or other premises as required.
7. Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff.
The Hepatitis service is the largest in the UK, providing multi-disciplinary management to multiple cohorts of Hepatitis patients (HBV, HCV and HIV). As part of a specialist nationally commissioned CQUIN, Kings is responsible for providing Hepatitis services across Southeast London and Kent, directly driving towards the elimination of HCV by 2025. This post is focused on the delivery metrics of responsive patient treatment and delivering data metrics to evidence elimination metrics and evolve clinical pathways across primary and secondary care.
Core Hepatology services represent one of the largest groups of clinical hepatologists in the United Kingdom. Whilst supporting liver transplant services is a component of hepatology, each of the Consultants has a defined clinical area of expertise. Thus, all aspects of modern clinical hepatology and hepatobiliary medicine are addressed.
There are close links with other specialist services such as liver radiology with regular multidisciplinary meetings. In house post graduate education programmes, audit and morbidity and mortality meetings in addition to journal clubs are all undertaken regularly.
