Not afraid of a challenge? We need committed, knowledgeable social workers to help us with our core business – empowering and supporting people who need signposting, community support, or even some direct help from the Council.
At this difficult time, the Council Leadership has made clear their support for our statutory functions, including Adult Social Care. We know where our priorities are.
We have an established and stable team of Managers to work with and support you. Our vacancy rates are low, and we rarely use agency staff, focusing instead on supporting our permanent staff. This includes a dedicated Training Officer supporting adult social care and a Consultant Social Worker acting as Deputy Principal Social Worker to support staff welfare and practice. We have also recently upgraded our electronic recording system.
Experienced Social Worker
If you have some experience, but perhaps have only just started supervising, or don’t feel quite ready to deputize for a Manager yet, consider the Experienced Social Worker role. This position is primarily case work-focused but includes some light supervision. It serves as a stepping stone for many, while for others, it allows undertaking more complex work without moving into management.
Working in Croydon
Applicants wishing to join our progressive adult social care services teams should demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and enthusiasm for sharing ideas that support service development. Candidates will show professionalism, creativity, and drive in their approach to person-centered practice and problem-solving. They should also be able to work flexibly in response to a rapidly changing public service environment. Our staff here are friendly, with excellent transport links and strong support for working from home.
We offer opportunities for career progression, professional development, and a department-wide commitment to manageable caseloads (capped for NQSWs at a minimum of 10% lower than the rest of the team). Croydon Adult Services operates a caseload limit structure to maintain workload viability and support output. This is complemented by a comprehensive learning, development, and career progression program, including a strong ASYE scheme and post-qualification training.
Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities
Croydon Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. All staff will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
