Due to continued growth in our Water sector, we are recruiting fora Senior M&E Estimator to join our Shape & Win team.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel asrequired.
Costain are working across a number ofWater sector frameworks for the remaining AMP7 works and to mobilise AMP8 earlyworks. The estimating function within the division is growing to facilitate theincreased volume of works being forecast over the next 5 years, with projectsvarying from £5m to over £100m in value.
The Senior M&E Estimator will be responsiblefor reviewing the Project Content Documents (PCD) and proposed scope of worksto assist in preparation of Bottom-up-estimates for the M&E elements of theschemes along with a Top-Down review from cost curves and Schedules of rates toassist in negotiation of the proposed Target Price.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely within the bid team and be responsiblefor the preparation of the Mechanical and Electrical Estimate for each project
Preparation of the detailed scope from drawings,specifications and a PCD that details the outline scope
Identify any errors/omissions from the scope within thePCD
Prepare abstract of material and sub-contractrequirements for sourcing and pricing
Technical and commercial appraisal of material andsubcontractor quotations to ensure full coverage of the scope is priced
Preparation of analytical estimates including the detailedappraisal of the M&E packages and attendances required
Contribute to the identification of risk and pricing ofrisks throughout the bid
Attend site visits during tender period
Preparation of an M&E “Tender Book” to collate andpresent the M&E estimate
Prepare Top-Down-Estimate using the Framework agreedschedules of rates and Cost curves for benchmarking as part of the reviewprocess
About You
Formally qualified in an M&E related discipline
Previous experience working as an Estimator for a major contractorwithin the water sector
Experience of pricing medium to large value new works or capitalmaintenance works on both waste and clean water projects would be an advantage
Customer focused, Open and Honest, Safe and Environmentally aware,Team Player, Accountable, Improving continuously and so the Natural Choice
Must be commercially aware and a lateral thinker ideally with aknowledge of the various model Forms of Contract
Good technical understanding of Waste and Clean water processsolutions and the ability to promote alternative process options whereappropriate
Numerate, accurate and self-checking
(Knowledge of CCS ‘Candy’ Estimating system would be an advantagealbeit training will be given)
