Job details Job role Other support roles Visa sponsorship Visas cannot be sponsored Working pattern Part time: Monday to Friday 11:45-1:157.5 hours per week Contract type Permanent Full-time equivalent salary 22599 What skills and experience we're looking for Qualifications and training First aid training (or willingness to complete it) Experience Working with children or young people Working and collaborating within a team Skills and knowledge Ability to respond quickly and effectively to issues that arise Ability to use own initiative and take action accordingly Effective communication with adults and children Ability to follow instructions from senior team members Ability to have a firm but fair approach to handling behaviour issues in line with the school's policies Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues Personal qualities Commitment to supporting and understanding pupil needs Uphold and promote the ethos and values of the school Maintain confidentiality at all times Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion Flexibility What the school offers its staff Training and development - including paediatric first aid Enhanced DBS check Supportive and collaborative team Further details about the role Main purpose A midday supervisor will be part of a teamthat is responsible for supervising pupils and the school's premises during themidday break to ensure that the break runs effectively and that the safety andwelfare of pupils is maintained. Duties and responsibilities Supervision Supervisepupils in the lunch area, playground and classrooms (for wet play) Encouragepupils to eat their lunch and monitor those who don't, reporting any concernsto the class teacher Monitorpupils that aren't engaging in play and feed back any concerns to class teachers Organisation Set upand put away the tables, chairs and other equipment needed for eating in thelunch area Managepupils' entrance and exit from the lunch area in an orderly manner Cleanup food and water spillages Health andsafety Observepupils and the environment and take action to minimise any identified healthand safety risks Deliverfirst aid to respond to minor incidents and refer any major incidents to aqualified first aider Recorddetails of incidents in line with the school's reporting procedures Beaware of and support pupils with medical/dietary needs Promotethe school's policy around healthy eating to pupils Feed backconcerns relating to pupils' health and safety to a senior member of staff Behaviour Reportany incidents of serious misbehaviour to the relevant staff member, in linewith the school's behaviour policy Takenecessary action to minimise disruption and harm to pupils, in line with theschool's behaviour policy Make surechildren tidy up after themselves in the lunch area and when using playresources/equipment Followany directions from class teachers on supporting specific pupils withchallenging behaviour Play Organiseplay activities to encourage pupils to play and make use of play equipment Offereducational instruction where needed to help pupils to share play equipment Help toresolve issues between pupils during play activities Safeguarding Followthe school's safeguarding policy and procedures Make surepupils remain on the school premises during the midday break Lookout for any unidentified visitors approaching the school and follow theschool's procedures for approaching/reporting individuals Commitment to safeguarding Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
