An exciting opportunity has arisen for development within the Sandwell School Health Nursing Service. We are seeking highly motivated, committed, innovative nurses with a desire to make a difference to children and young people working within the public health agenda.
Main duties of the job As a student School Nurse, you will engage in training to complete the BSC (Hons) Degree in Community Health (Specialist Practitioner award in School Nursing). This involves liaising with relevant parties within the practice area and at the university to complete a course comprising 50% theory and 50% practical elements. To successfully complete the course, the student will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the School Nursing Team, carrying out clinical duties with patients/clients as agreed with your Lead Nurse for development and training within the service.
About us Sandwell School Health Nurses aim to deliver services that are visible and accessible to the school-aged population of Sandwell, providing universal public health services and ensuring early help and additional support are available to children and young people when needed.
The team comprises a diverse workforce, including admin officers, support workers, staff nurses, and specialist practitioners.

Person Specification Qualifications First Level Registered Nurse
Current NMC Registration
Portfolio evidence of continuous professional & academic development
Evidence of attainment of 120 credits at level 2
Entry criteria for university education program, including at least 120 credits at level 5 (diploma)
For postgraduate diploma level applicants, an appropriate degree is required
Evidence of a conditional offer from the university
Experience Experience working in community nursing/public health settings
Ability to work independently
Problem-solving skills
Demonstrable nursing practice evidence
Awareness of working within a School Nurse/public health setting
Experience within a School Health Nurse team
Collaborative working experience
Experience in multiprofessional environments
Health promotion activities
Experience in audit, evaluation, and research

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per year, pro-rata.
