The Salaried General Practitioner (GP) will play a key role in delivering high-quality, holistic primary care to patients in accordance with the General Medical Services (GMS) contract. Reporting to the GP Partners, the post-holder will manage a range of clinical responsibilities including patient consultations, home visits, clinical documentation, and prescribing, while contributing to health promotion and the effective operation of the practice. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, adherence to clinical protocols and governance requirements, and active participation in quality improvement, clinical audits, and professional development activities. The GP will support the practice's commitment to excellence in patient care, administrative efficiency, and team-based healthcare delivery.

Job Purpose
Seeking a Salaried GP for 6 sessions per week, including one on Friday. To use professional skill and knowledge to provide high-quality primary and continuing medical care to patients in line with the GMS contract. Duties and Responsibilities
Undertake all duties associated with a General Practitioner under the GMS contract, including patient consultations, duty doctor cover, and home visits. Consider physical, psychological, and social factors when diagnosing and treating illnesses. Work according to the Practice rota system.
Record and maintain patient information accurately on the clinical system, complying with GMS objectives, QOF targets, and CCG requirements.
Work in accordance with Practice procedures, protocols, and external governance requirements (GMC, Department of Health, H&WCCG, etc.).
Request, perform, and interpret tests, and record reports and examination results to aid diagnosis. Prescribe or administer appropriate treatments, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatments as needed.
Refer patients to specialists or other practitioners as appropriate, ensuring timely and protocol-compliant referrals.
Promote health education and be aware of local health and social issues.
Complete clinical administration, conduct audits, and prepare reports for third parties when required.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including support for nursing teams during minor illness clinics.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to confidentiality policies and guidelines.
Communicate effectively within the team and with patients and their carers. Participate in Practice meetings and support health and safety policies.
Participate in GP revalidation, appraisal, and CPD activities. Keep medical knowledge current and attend training sessions as required.
Comply with all contractual and practice objectives and undertake additional duties as requested by Partners or Practice Manager. The job description is a guide and may be amended as needed.
