This is a substantive post for a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist within the CYP Eating Disorders Community Team, working alongside another part-time Consultant Psychiatrist.

The post holder joins a team of 7 Consultant Psychiatrists in the all age Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service. Every Consultant has a unique leadership role within the clinical teams/pathways for which they are responsible.

Academic, teaching and management interests are strongly encouraged and supported. With appropriate adjustment of responsbilities, the role could be full time, or part time at minimum 6 sessions.

This post attracts Golden Hello of 20K (non pensionable, taxable, subject to eligibility) and a generous annual leave, study leave, the NHS pension scheme and other financial benefits such as, Relocation package for up to 8K (subject to eligibility) and a range of lifestyle benefits and staff discounts including purchase and lease of new cars.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide psychiatric and medical assessment and management of children and young people with eating disorders receiving care in the CYP outpatient Eating Disorder Service.

They will provide clinical leadership and consultation within the team. They will work collaboratively with colleagues across the service, including the intensive community treatment and day patient services, as well as other stakeholders, including acute hospital partners.

The post-holder will provide liaison input to paediatric/medical wards according to MEED guidelines.

Both CAMHS and Eating Disorder services have grown considerably over the last 7 years and very significant new investment is currently coming into services as part of the Long Term Plan.

Vincent Square ED Service is an all age Service with a vibrant and skilled multidisciplinary team working across a a variety of evidence based treatment pathways targeted to the specific needs of different groups of patients. You will have the opportunity to work with committed, innovative and compassionate colleagues, delivering high quality care and treatment at an exciting time of significant investment and expansion of services.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

* To provide clinical leadership within the CEDS-CYP team.
* To provide consultant responsibility for patient care within service
* Consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the management of urgent assessments and risk.
* To attend the weekly referral and assessment meeting providing support and consultation for team.
* To diagnose patients with an ICD10 code at assessment/assessment meeting and ensure that these are documented appropriately, along with all other mandatory data recording
* Participation in the weekly referral & assessment and MDT meetings, providing leadership, supervision and consultation for the team.
* To work with lead therapists to manage flow of referrals, assessments and waiting list
* To provide comprehensive initial assessments for complex clients – typically one per week.
* To provide psychiatric review and management of CYP ED team patients – typically around 12 - 15 patients per week, including patients seen on paediatric wards.
* Manage and develop protocols with local paediatric services.
* Provide RC cover for paediatric wards
* Accessing Tier 4 provision as clinically appropriate and reviewing the management and care of the young person during inpatient admission to ensure the most effective use of resources and appropriate early discharge.
* To develop and sustain good working relationships and effective MEED pathways with Paediatrics.
* To contribute to CPA meetings, as appropriate.
* To contribute to MHA assessments as appropriate.
* To support the maintenance of a psychologically minded clinic culture.
* To regularly attend the weekly Staff Group, Continuing Professional Development sessions and Consultant meetings.
* To manage, and provide training and clinical supervision for the team Specialty Doctor and Psychiatry trainees seeking special interest sessions in the service.
* To provide cross cover for Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues in the Eating Disorder Service.
* To be an active member of the service lines Senior Leadership Team.
* Work along with other MDT colleagues to develop the CEDS-CYP team
* Participation in the development of new models of service to improve delivery and outcome, taking into account the views of commissioners, service users and evidence of best practice.
* Participation in development of clinical protocols as required.
* To maintain accurate and up to date clinical records.
* To participate in the administration patient information systems and ensure that data are entered in accordance with service policies and guidance.
* To contribute to collection and monitoring of Clinical Outcome data across the service.
* To liaise with statutory and non-statutory sector agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.
* To ensure discharges are managed in accordance with service policies and guidance.
* To complete and contribute to the completion of Serious Untoward Incident Reports as required.
* To work in accordance with service policies and guidelines.
* Maintaining up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Person specification

Education, Qualifications And Training

Essential criteria

* Primary Medical Degree
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* Inclusion on the Child and Adolescent Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date)
* Section 12 MHA Approved Approved Clinician status

Desirable criteria

* MRCPsych (or equivalent)
* An additional post graduate qualification of relevance to (own specialty)
