Some weekend working is required. It is part of a portfolio of properties in the York area and there is an expectation that you will work across these gardens during the year. We have lots going on at Beningbrough. The gallery in the Hall has yearly exhibitions and we have a long-term garden vision designed by one of the UK’s leading landscape and garden designers. Work is about to start on the fourth area of the vision, the wilderness garden.Alongside this work, we have proposals to extend the restaurant, retail space and car park. This is an exciting time for Beningbrough, and we are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic person who can play their part in maintaining and developing the gardens.Reporting to the Head Gardener and Parkland Manager, you'll work with other senior gardeners to create activity plans for staff and volunteers across the gardens. You'll manage a team of staff and volunteers on a day to day basis working alongside them in the gardens. You'll demonstrate exceptional standards of presentation, excellent horticultural skills and knowledge, and an ability to engage effectively with the public. Your main areas of responsibility will be the Mediterranean Garden and the garden nursery. You'll be a Duty Manager on site, deputising for the Head Gardener, collaborating as a team, to ensure the property runs smoothly for our visitors.You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached.
