Pay: £14.41 per hour / Hours: Average 42 hours, 4 on 4 off (Days & Nights 06:00-18:00 / 18:00-06:00)
Overview
To provide a high‑quality Security Officer service at the assigned location in accordance with Assignment Instructions and customer requirements. The role focuses on safeguarding employees, visitors, property, and assets while delivering excellent customer service and demonstrating the core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
Key Responsibilities
Access Control & Site Security
* Control access and egress for all staff, visitors, and contractors.
* Monitor and enforce compliance with site security procedures and statutory regulations.
* Conduct frequent internal and external patrols across a large, high‑activity facility.
* Support diversion‑prevention measures and protect regulated/controlled areas.
Emergency & Alarm Management
* Monitor fire alarms, emergency communication systems, and out‑of‑hours alerts.
* Respond professionally to incidents, taking appropriate action and escalating when required.
* Confidently manage emergency information and assist with alarm activations.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
* Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation using Excel, Word, and internal site systems.
* Uphold strict GMP and regulatory standards at all times.
* Demonstrate high attention to detail when handling regulated processes, investigations, and compliance records.
Customer Service & Professional Conduct
* Provide excellent customer service and uphold professional site standards.
* Communicate clearly and effectively (written, verbal, and radio).
* Build positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, visitors, and partners.
Operational Performance
* Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
* Take initiative and self‑manage tasks confidently without direct supervision.
* Solve problems effectively and raise issues where appropriate.
* Maintain good physical fitness to meet the requirements of regular site patrols.
* Remain adaptable and willing to learn as the site continues rapid expansion.
Protection of Property and Premises
* Prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site.
* Monitor firewall alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV systems as required.
* Conduct internal and external security patrols in line with Assignment Instructions.
* Manage traffic flow and enforce parking restrictions where appropriate.
* Carry out routine tests of security equipment.
* Perform key management duties, including locking and unlocking responsibilities.
* Ensure all customer‑provided and company‑provided equipment is handled and maintained as instructed.
* Maintain accurate logbooks, records, and reports as specified.
* Issue visitor and contractor passes following site procedures.
* Handle lost property in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
Health & Safety
* Provide support, guidance, and information to staff, visitors, and contractors to ensure the safe operation of the premises.
* Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
* Report and record faults, hazards, unsafe practices, and accidents in line with Assignment Instructions.
* Keep all walkways and emergency escape routes clear.
* Report any use or shortages of First Aid equipment.
* Notify the Securitas Operations Centre in emergencies and follow the instructions provided.
* Assist in investigating the cause of all fire alarm activations.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Valid SIA Security Guarding (SG) Licence.
* Valid SIA CCTV Licence.
* First Aid at Work certification.
* Strong written, verbal, and radio communication skills in English.
* Good physical fitness for regular patrols.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word (desirable).
* Customer‑focused attitude with a commitment to adding value.
* Fully flexible to work 12‑hour shifts, days, nights, and weekends.
* The right to work in the UK, with a 5‑year checkable history.
* Ability to commute reliably to site.
