A unique opportunity exists to provide Electrical Technician support to a fast-paced R&D environment, taking ownership of technician tasks during the build, installation, and commissioning of pilot plants, bespoke research engineering equipment, and associated electrical infrastructure across the Teesside sites.
Significant investment is now ongoing within the R&D business to expand our capability and transform our operations, focusing on construction of new assets & upgrades to existing assets. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and good opportunities for technical development and growth, fully supported by the wider electrical engineering team.
This role follows a Monday-Friday working pattern; however, occasional weekends may be required.

Your responsibilities:
* Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new pilot plants, bespoke research engineering equipment, and associated infrastructure to facilitate delivery of business-critical research and manufacturing programs. Ensure equipment installations meet site and statutory specifications.
* Liaise with project/maintenance engineers and team leaders to coordinate planned works.
* Plan and prioritize work tasks to deliver safely within time and budget.
* Carry out electrical installation work in compliance with BS7671 and other relevant standards.
* Construct electrical panels for R&D assets to bespoke designs.
* Install and test lighting and small power circuits from distribution boards for both industrial and domestic installations.
* Perform electrical erection works such as containment, ladder, tray, unistrut, conduit, and termination of SWA cables.
* Support the commissioning of new assets, including RCD testing and trip testing following Johnson Matthey procedures and schedules.
Requirements for the role:
* Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship as Engineering Technician or similar qualification.
* Experience working in a research and development, pilot plant, or laboratory environment that is subject to change.
* Ability to resolve discipline-specific problems autonomously and manage own workload.
* Level 3 Inspection and Testing C&G2391 qualification.
* Qualified to the current edition of BS7671.
* Strong team player, comfortable interacting with various stakeholders.
