Rate of Pay: £23.17 - £29.50 per hour Summary: The Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the Finance Business Partner (FBP) in the financial management of the South East Wales Corporate Joint Committee (SEWCJC). This includes overseeing the financial accounting, reporting, internal controls, and system integrity. Responsibilities: Support the FBP in preparing the annual budget and Medium-Term Financial Plan for operational budgets and the Wider Investment Fund (Revenue & Capital). Assist in producing monthly board packs with financial updates for internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to the preparation of SEWCJCs Annual Financial Statements and support the external audit process. Lead on management accounting for designated projects, offering financial advice and support to project managers. Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of general ledger transactions across projects and programmes. Qualifications: AAT qualified or part-qualified CCAB/CIMA (e.g., ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, ACA) accountant or working towards qualification. Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) is desirable. Essentials: Experience in public sector finance or working with joint committees or similar bodies is desirable. Experience with financial systems (e.g., CIVICA) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Relevant experience in financial accounting, management accounting, and budgeting.
