IVVQ Manager – Role Overview

Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Engineering Delivery Manager, you will influence the entire product lifecycle – from initial specifications to final delivery – across multiple innovative products. You will guide a diverse team of system, software, and hardware engineers through every stage of product verification and validation, ensuring seamless delivery to our customers and end‑users.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
* Shape the IVVQ strategy, estimates, and schedules to drive project success.
* Strategically plan, manage, and deliver IVVQ work packages with effective resource and activity allocation.
* Develop and enforce robust IVVQ testing, verification methods, and acceptance criteria to guarantee quality outcomes.
* Take charge of integration, verification, validation, and qualification activities, both on‑site and at customer locations.
* Analyse test data thoroughly, produce insightful technical reports, and compile comprehensive compliance evidence.
* Proactively identify design non‑compliances and technical risks, communicating clearly with stakeholders and recommending solutions.
* Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Design Authority and Engineering Management, to ensure IVVQ aligns seamlessly with design and requirements.
* Coordinate smoothly with test houses and customer sites to facilitate all IVVQ activities and acceptance processes.
* Provide transparent and timely status updates to project leadership and external customers, ensuring confidence and clarity.
* Lead engineering IVVQ reviews and drive efforts toward successful customer acceptance and project delivery.
About You – Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (BEng, BSc) or equivalent in a numerate, scientific, or engineering discipline.
* Proven ability to lead teams and engage effectively across all organizational levels.
* Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and executing IVVQ or equivalent engineering lifecycle activities.
* Skilled in developing, reviewing, and managing test strategies and procedures for complex system integration and verification.
* Proven track record of ensuring technical solutions comply with customer, product, and regulatory requirements (e.g., cybersecurity, environmental/HSE, safety).
* Adept at identifying, resolving, and mitigating complex issues and risks during integration and verification, with effective escalation as needed.
* Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and customers.
* Proven ability to liaise effectively with engineering, project management, quality assurance, customers, and external partners to align IVVQ activities.
* Experienced in monitoring IVVQ progress, preparing status reports, and presenting results to stakeholders.
* Strong technical writing and analytical skills, with excellent command of written and spoken English.
* Capable of allocating and coordinating resources efficiently to achieve IVVQ project deliverables and milestones.
* Goal‑oriented and delivery‑focused, demonstrating innovation and self‑motivation while maintaining dedication and determination to successfully complete tasks in high‑pressure environments.
* Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally.
Desirable – Additional Experience
* Extensive experience in the defence industry, understanding its unique requirements, standards, and operational environments.
* Proven expertise in systems engineering, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, and lifecycle management to deliver complex defence solutions.
* Software test and verification experience, executing comprehensive test plans and methodologies to ensure software reliability, performance, and compliance with defence standards.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work at Thales, many roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. If not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. A dual national from a non‑ITAR country may be considered if approved by the MOD.

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
