Offer description

Oak Hall Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a Salaried GP (6 sessions per week) to join our practice in the picturesque Romney Marsh area. The post is hosted and employed by Oak Hall Surgery, with funding supported jointly by our Primary Care Network's Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) and the new practice-level GP reimbursement scheme introduced under the 2026/27 GP contract.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate GP - either recently qualified or experienced - to work in our forward-looking, friendly practice. You will be part of a dynamic team that includes GPs, Advanced and Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Paramedic Practitioners, Nurses, and a supportive Admin team.

As a GP at Oak Hall, you will manage a busy and interesting clinical caseload, delivering the highest standard of care to both registered and temporary patients. Your responsibilities will include all duties reasonably expected of an NHS GP, in line with GMC standards.

We offer a competitive salary package on BMA Model Salaried GP Contract terms, including NHS Pension and medical indemnity fees. Our GP partner-led, patient-centred surgery is dedicated to supporting your professional growth and maintaining a collaborative, supportive work environment.

If you are a committed GP eager to make a difference in a vibrant practice, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

* This post draws on two complementary funding routes: PCN Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) and new practice-level GP reimbursement scheme under the 2026/27 GP contract. There is no CCT-date restriction - the 2026/27 contract changes have opened ARRS to experienced GPs as well as those recently qualified. Locum engagements are not eligible; this is a substantive salaried post.
* Manage a diverse clinical caseload, offering high-quality, patient-centred care in a respectful, non-judgemental manner.
* Conduct general practice consultations, including physical examinations, to identify or reduce health risks.
* Perform telephone triage and face-to-face appointments, ensuring timely and effective patient care.
* Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, sharing knowledge and experience to optimise patient outcomes.
* Participate in a share of in-house duty doctor sessions on a rota basis and contribute to administrative tasks that support the smooth running of the practice.
* Attend clinical meetings and engage in practice development, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.
* Uphold GMC standards, prioritise patient care, maintain professional competence, and recognise your limits.
* Utilise excellent verbal and written communication skills ensuring clear, effective interactions with patients and colleagues.
* Encourage and support the development of special interests, with opportunities for teaching and mentorship.
* Rare home visits, with a focus on in-practice patient care.

Job responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, and additional services where appropriate.
* Deliver high-quality clinical care while working autonomously as a GP, adhering to GMC standards and the GMS contract.
* Manage a diverse caseload, including the assessment and treatment of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Develop and implement care plans in consultation with patients, providing counselling and health education.
* Maintain accurate, contemporaneous consultation notes using EMIS clinical systems, and manage prescriptions according to guidelines.
* Contribute to the clinical team's day-to-day operations, providing support and guidance to both clinical and administrative staff.
* Participate in clinical auditing, data collection, and service development to meet practice and patient needs.
* Support the training of other healthcare professionals.
* Engage with local and national healthcare initiatives to enhance and sustain service delivery.
* Contribute to the management and improvement of practice processes, ensuring adherence to policies on confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
* Participate in routine clinics, on-call duties, and duty doctor rotas, while providing emergency cover as needed.
* Promote and support a culture of continuous learning, attending meetings, and contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and QOF achievement.
* Foster effective communication within the team and with patients, upholding equality, diversity, and patient confidentiality standards.
* Engage in personal and professional development, including participating in annual appraisals, revalidation, and maintaining professional registration.

Qualifications

* Fully qualified General Practitioner with GMC registration.
* Included in the General Practitioner Register.
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice.
* Currently on a performers list and not suspended from the list or medical register.

Experience

* Proficient in managing common medical, surgical, and psychiatric emergencies.
* Ability to make appropriate referrals for further management.
* Experience working as a General Practitioner or Locum Practitioner.
* Up-to-date understanding of modern primary care, including urgent care and community settings.
* Knowledge of the NHS and its clinical environment.
* Experience with EMIS is advantageous.
