ABOUT US University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker’s Piece is the Hotel’s quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar Parker’s Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful 272 square metre wood panelled Ballroom. Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge’s oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridge's 'go to’ destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING As Front of House Restaurant / Bar Server, you will provide knowledgeable, attentive, and personalised service in our bar, restaurant and library. You will guide guests through our menus, serve meticulously crafted beverages, and ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued. THE DUTIES Provide professional, engaging, and anticipatory service to all guests. Take and deliver drink and food orders accurately and efficiently. Maintain exceptional product knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, and bar menus. Ensure bar and library areas remain immaculate, organised, and service-ready. Support bartenders with preparation, mise en place, and guest service. Manage billing and payment handling with accuracy. Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards in line with hotel policies. We believe in flexibility and multi-skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU Passion for hospitality – you’re all about creating memorable experiences for others. Previous experience in a premium or luxury bar, restaurant, or hotel environment. Passionate about beverage service, mixology, and creating memorable guest moments. Warm, confident, and polished communication skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment. A team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
