Job Description: At Hayton Coulthard Transport, we are currently seeking a Transport Operator for our site in Twynholm. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspect of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day to day running of this busy contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Transport Manager in motivating and managing the transport team to ensure effective use of staff and resources for optimal commercial performance, cost-efficiency, and service quality.
Oversee that deliveries and collections are fulfilled according to customer expectations while tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to delivery timing, revenue, and vehicle utilisation.
Manage driver rosters and conduct briefings on a daily and weekly basis.
Handle driver holidays and expense submissions through the People System.
Ensure that vehicle inspections and defect reporting are completed using the Vehicle Check App.
Confirm that units and trailers are prepared for inspection in line with scheduled timelines.
Coordinate delivery and collection times with customers to ensure timely service.
Collaborate with the Fleet Team to promptly address and resolve vehicle defects.
Assign delivery targets per shift and per vehicle to optimise operations.
Conduct regular meetings with Line Managers to ensure operational efficiency.
Identify and propose new business opportunities where relevant.
Verify that all contracted work meets customer expectations and service agreements.
Ensure compliance with all relevant business area policies and procedures.Requirements:
Previous experience working in a transport environment, including knowledge of working time directive and EU driver's hours.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
Critical attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
Proficiency in MS packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Why Join Hayton Coulthard Transport?
Competitive Salary: £33,000 per annum - £36,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Hours: 07:00hrs - 17:00hrs or 08:00hrs - 18:00hrs, Monday to Friday. PLUS SATURDAY PAID AT AN OVERTIME RATE.
