The primary focus of this role will be the provision of legal advice in relation to data protection compliance and privacy issues impacting Temenos and, in particular, its client offerings. Working with SVP- General Counsel, Europe this work will ensure that Temenos complies with privacy and data-related laws across its global business, including the EU GDPR and that our client offerings also support our clients’ ability to do so.
This will involve interacting with our banking clients, partners and suppliers as well as working across the globe with colleagues in the legal, privacy, compliance, security, operations and product teams.
The post holder will ensure development of strong relationships within the legal team, with Temenos’ Chief Compliance Officer and with colleagues in particular, in the SaaS Operations, Security and Product Teams.
Advising, drafting and negotiating data protection elements of client agreements and privacy terms across all regions with a view to protecting Temenos’ interests
developing appropriate training tools to assist the regional legal and sales teams on key legal aspects of privacy
Advising in relation to legal aspects of data protection compliance including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Impact Assessments (LIAs)
Working with the Compliance and Product teams to further embed privacy by design and by default into products and processing whilst enabling business innovation
Advising on legal issues arising out of data protection operational matters during the lifecycle of client contracts and specific client contract enquiries
Advising on international data transfers within the Temenos group of companies and Temenos partners and vendors
Advising on legal aspects of security incidents including issues arising in relation to the SaaS operations, working in conjunction with the security and compliance team to ensure that personal data breaches are assessed and that notification requirements across relevant jurisdictions, are complied with
Advising on the ePrivacy Directive and related legislation concerning the use of cookies and similar technologies as well as the use of personal data for electronic marketing
monitoring ever evolving data protection regulations which impact Temenos or its clients, liaising with external counsel where appropriate
Assisting with managing the business contracting templates and updating any relevant playbooks and toolkits provided to regional legal, sales and business teams
Identifying legal issues and risks relating to data protection compliance and escalating to SVP- General Counsel, Europe as appropriate
Working with the procurement team to ensure that Temenos’ procurement process takes into account data protection compliance and is in line with best practices
Liaising, consulting and cultivating close working relationships with other internal teams in the company to ensure adherence with corporate policies and guidelines.
A qualified lawyer with a minimum of [5] years post qualification experience in the technology sector and data protection within either a law firm or in industry
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in data protection matters relating to technology and cloud services, and a commercially aware approach to legal and compliance matters
Solid knowledge and experience of global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA.
Commercial approach to business in addition to legal flair
Ability to remain confident and assured in difficult circumstances and to possess the resilience and stamina to sustain performance, particularly when under pressure
