Job summary
The primary function of this role is to provide cleaning services to support a safe environment for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust patients and colleagues. This work is essential for healthcare safety and compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
The post holder will ensure the service is delivered to a high standard, extending care and consideration to patients, staff, and visitors.
Main duties of the job
* Observing correct safe working procedures in accordance with the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
* Carrying out routine cleaning tasks at scheduled times, in specified areas, following all relevant policies and procedures.
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the responsibility areas.
* Emptying and disposing of domestic and clinical waste according to the Trust's infection prevention and control & waste disposal policies.
* Replenishing consumables such as paper towels, toilet rolls, and soap.
* Storing and using cleaning equipment and materials safely and efficiently, in compliance with COSHH regulations.
* Using only approved cleaning equipment and materials, following training and instructions.
* Undertaking all cleaning duties safely, using PPE and hazard signs as appropriate.
* Liaising with clinical staff to deliver a patient-focused service.
* Reporting care and estate issues to the line manager.
* Responding to reactive cleaning requests on-site, complying with infection prevention and control and management instructions.
* Collecting and moving refuse, including emptying, cleaning, and relining waste bins with appropriate liners.
* Cleaning sanitary areas, including WCs, wash hand basins, baths, showers, sinks, and sluices, as well as floors, surfaces, furniture, and fittings.
