About The Role
Were seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanical Fitter to join the maintenance team at a busy industrial site in Hexham. This is a permanent, full-time position offering stability, excellent earning potential, and long-term career prospects in a well-established manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on plant machinery
* Diagnosing and repairing faults on equipment such as pumps, conveyors, rollers, and valves
* Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Responding promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime
* Supporting installations and machinery upgrades when required
* Participating in an on-call rota (weekday cover and 1 in every 5 weekends)
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance
* Previous experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing setting
* Sound knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Must live within 1 hour of Hexham
* Full UK driving licence and own transport essential
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable
* Experience in paper, pulp, or process plant industries
* Additional safety training (e.g., confined space, lifting operations)
