Job Summary

AECOM is a leading provider of professional and technical support to the water industry, local government and private developers. We are looking for a talented Process Engineer with proven technical capacity to join our water team. The role involves working within a dynamic team on a challenging mix of projects in water and wastewater engineering.


Responsibilities

* Develop and manage process flow diagrams and mass balance calculations; possess basic knowledge of PIDS.
* Complete process engineering calculations, such as sizing of unit operations, and define associated design constraints.
* Undertake surveys and assessments of existing process equipment (asset surveys) and conduct site visits as required.
* Conduct feasibility and optioneering studies for wastewater treatment processes.
* Act as technical secretary or scribe in HAZOP meetings and develop proficiency in HAZOP, FMEA, and related methods.
* Communicate effectively with clients and key stakeholders.
* Prepare and structure technical documents and data in accordance with relevant design standards, legislation, and AECOM QA standards.
* Ensure proposed designs satisfy all operational and safety requirements and client technical standards.
* Check and verify engineering documents per the appropriate technical and quality plans.
* Provide documentation and drawing deliverables on time to meet project deadlines.
* Assist with reviewing the work of junior staff, applying AECOM technical QA procedures.
* Offer process commissioning support to site teams where appropriate.
* Represent AECOM in technical meetings with clients and collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to deliver an integrated solution.
* Stay informed about emerging wastewater technologies and innovation.


Qualifications

* Ambition to work toward Chartered Engineer status with IChemE or CIWEM.
* Excellent report writing, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Willingness to travel as required by specific projects.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail and creative thinking.
* Experience in design and build projects is advantageous but not essential.
* Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
* Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D design models such as Revit is an advantage.
* Commercial awareness and willingness to learn.
* Positive attitude and ability to take direction and guidance.
* Interest in municipal water and wastewater treatment and related unit processes.
* Keen interest in functional safety (HAZOP studies).
* Degree educated (MEng or MSc) or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
